Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Make routine rounds of the facility.
  • Inspect all facility machinery thoroughly for potential malfunctions and/or failures.
  • Maintain all logs and records as required to record complete operating conditions for the facility and report any irregularities to the shift supervisor.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe and economical control of all facility equipment as directed.
  • Start-up and secure equipment under normal and emergency situations, from the DCS or the field.
  • Perform facility water chemistry tests and control treatment chemicals within recommended limits.
  • Regenerate the condensate polisher and demineralizer system when necessary.
  • Make adjustments to equipment, as required, for maintaining safe and efficient operation of the Facility.
  • Operate manually, if necessary, any facility equipment.
  • Assist in running an efficient and high availability facility.
  • Perform maintenance work as needed within individual skills and ability.
  • Perform simple or complex maintenance work, up to capabilities, as assigned.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance work on a variety of electrical power delivery and control devices, such as motor controllers, variable speed drives, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including a boom truck, forklift, flatbed pickup truck, and/or other utility vehicles.
  • Operate the station overhead crane and perform routine and non-routine rigging work.
  • Assist in the implementation and upkeep of the overall preventative maintenance and spare parts inventory tracking system.
  • Maintain logs and/or records of problems, repairs and downtime as required.
  • Comply with all facility environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Identify hazardous and/or unsafe conditions or work practices; notify supervisor and take action to correct as required.
  • Assist in scheduled and forced outage maintenance work.
  • Assist in scheduling of outages, work planning, and spare parts procurement.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance on other electrical control equipment such as protective relays, voltage regulators, inverters, battery chargers, and crane controls.
  • Perform maintenance, calibration, and quality control work on the Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems.
  • Understand the function and be able to perform troubleshooting and maintenance on complex digital control systems such as the Foxboro I/A Digital Control System linked to discreet local PLC’s including GE Mark V Speedtronic, and others.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Work with the management team to identify, analyze, and justify plant and equipment modifications and capital expenditures to reduce cost, improve reliability, production, efficiency and availability.
  • Be available for unscheduled overtime outside normal hours for emergency call in.
  • May be required to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
  • Perform other duties as required to assigned.
  • Work with the staff at Crockett Cogeneration to ensure excellence in customer service.
  • Participate in committee and task forces.
  • Be available to travel as needed. Estimated 10 to 20% travel.

Experience and Skills:

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of four (4) years operations and maintenance experience in a process manufacturing or power production setting is required, including demonstrated ability to operate and maintain a power plant and related auxiliary equipment. Experience operating auxiliary boilers is preferred. Applicant must be detail oriented and possess the ability to understand complex instructions; possess strong mechanical skills; have the ability to respond effectively in emergent or non-routine situations; and must be available to work 12-hour rotating shifts. This job requires the physical ability to sit for extended periods of time, frequent bending and twisting, climbing ladders and stairs and the ability to effectively work in high places; plus ability to apply a moderate amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Ability

Associates degree or trade school is desired. Prior knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas turbine cogeneration facility.
