Job Description:

  • Support the System Safety Process.
  • Oversee Management of Change Program.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce safe working conditions.
  • Participate in the setting of safety goals for an accident free work environment.
  • Communicate to employees and contractors the importance of a safe work environment on a daily basis.
  • Investigate report and track incidents/accidents including root cause analysis and corrective action taken.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of facility controls systems (Ovation, MVI…etc.).
  • Confer with Operations Superintendent (Manager) on the station chemistry program to insure optimum plant chemistry is maintained.
  • Report findings to management and then communicate findings to employees.
  • Participate in the development of plant O&M and capital forecast, and tracking and controlling expenditures to meet approved budgets.
  • Ensures optimized material, parts, and equipment inventories to maintain facility in a cost-effective manner.
  • Recommend and direct improvements to equipment design and maintenance procedures.
  • Develop, maintain and improve maintenance procedures and instructions for generating and other equipment to assure safe, efficient and reliable operation.
  • Provide technical guidance in the operation of plant activities to insure compliance with all appropriate local, state and federal environmental control regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Act and other applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform Power Plant Operations and Maintenance calculations and practices.
  • Conduct results engineering. This includes conducting performance tests, analyzing operating data, and developing operational plans and equipment recommendations to optimize performance and profitability.
  • Provide equipment performance data to Plant Manager in support of predictive maintenance program.
  • Coordinate and lead Critical Piping Optimization initiative.
  • Coordinate and lead HRSG Optimization initiative.
  • Steam Turbine and supporting ancillary equipment (including the Generator and supporting ancillaries, EX2100, Controls, breakers, relays and instrumentation): provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Steam Turbine and supporting ancillary equipment.
  • Combustion Turbines and supporting ancillary equipment (including the Generator and supporting ancillaries, EX2100, LCI, Controls, breakers, relays and instrumentation): provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the combustion Turbine and supporting ancillary equipment.
  • HRSG’s and supporting steam production ancillary equipment and associated systems: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the HRSG’s and supporting steam production ancillary equipment and associated systems.
  • Auxiliary Boiler and supporting ancillary equipment: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Auxiliary Boiler and supporting ancillary equipment.
  • Boiler Feed Water System: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Boiler Feed Water System.
  • Potable Water Systems: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Potable Water Systems.
  • Compressed Air Systems: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Compressed Air Systems.
  • Fuel Gas Systems: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of the Fuel Gas System.
  • Waste Handling Systems: Oily water Sump and separator, Waste Water sump and sanitary lift station: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of these systems.
  • Building and Grounds: assist with the upgrade and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Tanks and vessels: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of tanks and vessels.
  • Above and underground ground piping and piping supports: provide guidance, technical and field support for the monitoring, inspection and maintenance of above ground piping and piping supports.
  • Assist Plant staff as needed with training and training development.
  • Supervise crews and follow field work as needed.
  • Supervise and conduct performance evaluation of select hourly employees as required.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by the Plant Manager.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years power plant experience, preferably at a Combined Cycle.
  • B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering discipline from an accredited university is preferred or Associate degree with 10 years of power plant experience.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate technical processes based on process data, and the ability to develop solutions to problems, along with a strong background in project management and execution including planning and scheduling.
  • Interpersonal, communications, and leadership skills in order to coordinate and accomplish objectives through other involved company personnel, work team members, technicians, supervisory personnel and contractors.
  • Commitment to safety and a willingness to communicate on unsafe acts and conditions when discovered.
